Eid-ul-Adha & Its Requirements with Philosophy

When Eid-ul-Adha comes, the people of Islam around the world commemorate the great spirit of self-sacrifice and sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (as), his shining eyes Hazrat Ismail (as) and Syeda Hajar (as).

It is a matter of consciously understanding and explaining that the purpose of sacrifice is not just to perform a ritual but it is a training workshop that acquaints us every year with the feelings of submission, self-sacrifice and sacrifice.

The great son of the father offered his neck without any hesitation to carry out the command of Allah Almighty. A mother, after years of prayers, supplications and presented her son to Allah Almighty with high spirits.

Hazrat Khalil (PBUH) and his family became successful in the test that Allah Almighty had put in order to reward His servant with His special pleasure and grace.

The Scope Of The Sacrifice

Eid al-Adha is not limited to three days of animal sacrifice but has a wide scope. Our lives and property, our children, our time are only entrusted to us. Every year Eid-ul-Adha gives us the message that we should also spend our time sharing joys and loves in God’s creation.

Today most of our precious time is spent on social media but we do not bother to look at the scattered pictures of our right and left sadness and give them a smile. There are so many people whom even if we just greet them, the feeling of comfort and satisfaction is embedded in their limbs.

How long does it take for an elderly woman or an elderly person to cross the road? But we are not ready to sacrifice time. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Whoever pleases a Muslim family (ie, strives for their rights, goes through hardships and strives hard) for the sake of Allah (swt), may Allah Almighty grant him Paradise.

The irony is that there are so many of us who spend thousands of miles chatting with our friends on social media for thousands of miles but are not aware of spending some time with our parents. Who Sacrificed comforts and everything to his children.

Eid-ul-Adha Renewal Commitment

It does not befit us to remember this great sacrifice but not to follow the path of self-sacrifice in practice. We should not have the habit of not only forgetting the spirit of self-sacrifice while distributing meat, but also destroying it.

Even today, on Eid days, there is no meat in the pot which is burnt in many houses; Many parents cannot feed their children meat even during Eid.

How many families have hunger camps while we are celebrating Eid forgetting the poor people around us? The practice of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was that while sacrificing, he did not ignore the poor and needy of his ummah, but shared them in his sacrifice. Why do we turn a blind eye to the teachings of the Holy Prophet (sws)?

Eid-Al-Adha Its Requirements

Instead of just slaughtering animals, looking at sacrifice in a broader perspective, we should keep the lesson of sacrifice in mind throughout the year so that we can gain the pleasure of Allah Almighty. If Allah Almighty has given us a high position, then they should not use their position only for the benefit of relatives and for the sake of gaining illegitimate profit, but for the sake of recognizing the comfort of Allah’s creatures.

Also, prioritize the comfort of God’s people over your own desires. If you can benefit a needy person with your tongue or pen, then do not squeeze the blood of that needy person, but through your authority and position, bring happiness to his body.

If someone has been blessed with wealth by Allah, then give some of Allah’s wealth to Allah’s creatures and bless your wealth and family and get Allah’s pleasure. In Eid-ul-Adha, we should keep in mind the aspect of merciful reward. In other days also one should strive for charity and merciful reward.

If Allah Almighty has blessed someone with the blessing of knowledge, then he should share this light of knowledge among his seekers and give thanks to Allah Almighty. Students should not be stingy in the matter of knowledge with their friends for fear that one of them will go ahead.

Teachers should devote all their energies to transfer their knowledge to the hearts and minds of the students without any discrimination. Give thanks to Allah Almighty by lighting the lamp of knowledge as much as possible and embrace more rewards of Allah Almighty.

The Philosophy of Eid-ul-Adha

The philosophy of Eid-ul-Adha is to include the oppressed sections of the society, the poor and the deprived in their happiness. Eid-ul-Adha conveys the message of self-sacrifice and love. Islam teaches to include the poor and deserving people in the celebration of happiness, it is our religious, moral and national duty to share the joy of Eid with the deprived classes.

Acceptance of sacrifice does not depend on show but on purity. Where there is no sincerity, there is no acceptance. The real philosophy of sacrifice is piety and attainment of Allah’s pleasure.

The most important thing to keep in mind regarding Eid-ul-Adha and the sacrifice of human desires is that we cut the throat of the sacrificial animal but it is a far cry to turn the knife on the throat of our desires. Eid-ul-Adha comes and goes but our hearts and minds are empty of the spirit of sacrifice.

When we buy good sacrificial animals, we get bogged down in the mire of appearances. And it hurts the poor who cannot afford to buy a cheap animal for sacrifice.

Let us pledge that after this Eid-ul-Adha we will remember the lesson of Eid-ul-Adha till the next Eid and we will sacrifice our comfort, our wealth, our time and our position for the sake of Allah’s creatures as much as possible.

We will try our best to follow the path of selflessness. Remember that whatever we sacrifice in the way of Allah Almighty will be a source of comfort for us in this world and in the hereafter.
